I realised some time ago that some of my commissions were not registerriing at my affiliate networks after I read an article, not too long after I started with affiliate marketing.

At that time Mike Filsaime had just come out with a URL redirect script which worked like a charm and I bought it and swiftly installed in on one of my domains. 

This script has since been installed and now has a great interface for seeing clickthroughs and adding Keywords etc. It does cost but if you are serious then it is a great one take a serious look.

www.Your-Profit-Zones.com  and you can call yours whatever you wish the domain name to be.  Ideally it needs to be some sort of generic name or a niche related to the area of your promotions.

and take a look at the Url Bar and you will see that the affiliate link is cloaked and the Viral Bar is visible. The great addition in the last version is the ability for you to add a pop up, or a pop exit which is great if you want to send a leaving visitor to another page and at least take the opportunity to sell something that they may be intersted in. I know many people dont like pop ups and pop exits but they have been shown to work and increase the bottom line in tests again and again.  One of the best ways you can use this feature is to add a pop exit and make it some kind of a squeeze page for a free product so that you can get your custeomers name and email address for something in return, before they leave or maybe even a small exit survey - asking them why they are leaving. This feature can be switched on or off any time. 

I recently tested a URL Cloaker from Jonathan Ledger which worked very well and still use it on some promotions. This is a well known fact within the IM community, although its not really a problem in other niches. Plus this is also web based - so you dont need to install a database or the script in order to use it. I have used this and still do sometimes.

You will find that there are seceral Link Cloakers out there these days - some are web based, some are domain installs and the prices do vary quite a lot depending on what level of sophistication you want in terms of click data etc.

Some are simple re directs and others are link cloakers as well. You may have already seen  www.TinyUrl.com  www.ShortUrl.com    and www.FreezeUrl.com  and all work and supply differring data. But there is one great BUT….or disadvantage  with these and that is YOU are not in control of these domains. If anything were to happen to these services - you are done for.  All your short urls everywhere are also gone.  Can you imagine all the lost commissions that would mean especially if you had used them in Viral Ebooks and rebranded books  etc.  so be warned.  There are obviously exceptions in that very reputable marketers like  Jonathan Ledger and his services you would trust as one that will remain for a very long time to come.

Now fast forward a a few days ago and 2 great programmers Colin Klinkert and Frank Bauer  of whom you have probably already heard of.
